Minwood School

Minwood Lane Drama School - Screen & Stage Arts

Alongside training in most artistic disciplines, we encourage students with an interest in the industry to audition for our Agency.

Our aim is to encourage, educate and empower our students to express their knowledge and talents through the arts sector. This does not always mean being centre stage or in front of the camera, each student is given the opportunity to decide whether they would like to build skills on or off stage/screen each term.

Enabling each student to be an individual and discover their abilities and potential is most important to us.
Creative Arts is not only enjoyable, it enhances skills required during our everyday lives.
Such as:
  • Confidence
  • Speaking & Listening
  • Reading
  • Social Awareness
  • Time Management
  • Personal Development
  • Cultural Diversity

"Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances"
Sanford Meisner

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women are merely players. They have their exists and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts."

As You Like It (Act Two Scene 7)
William Shakespeare

Little Individuals

Aged 18-30 Months
Pre-School

Introducing drama at this age is a wonderful experience for your little ones. It enables them to unleash creativity through role play in a nurturing and friendly environment.

We focus on rhymes and rhythm during this session as this encourages communication through repetition. Hearing verse and word play is great for the Little Individuals as they begin to develop speaking and listening skills.

Excitables

Reception - Year 3 (Primary)

Exploring stories and improvising adventures teach Pre Schoolers about cause and effect, stimulating comprehension and imagination.

Our sessions incorporate role play, music and movement, allowing these Excitables to flourish, build confidence, empathise and start to develop problem solving skills.

As they enter primary infant stages...

We use drama sessions to reinforce the value of reading, making it fun by introducing a new purpose.

We work with the students to read the play, learn the lines and create live theatre exerts and animations.

We believe our approach increases the chances of independent reading and school readiness.

Explorers

Primary Year 4 - Year 6

This inbetween stage allows for the most progression and individual development. Our drama sessions focus on the need for confidence building, exploration of characters and understand consequence.

Scripts are looked at in more depth, the effect of a plot it twist or the decision a character makes and how it compares the modern day.

As well as live performances we begin to explore screen acting and how drama differs for camera in more detail.
