Minwood Lane Arts Policy 

This policy statement provides an overview of our developing programme. We encourage creative thinking across all subject areas.

The creative arts industry is not only enjoyable and expressive in its elements but it also encourages and enhances all of the following:

* Confidence
* Reading
* Social Awareness
* Time Management 
* Personal Development 
* Cultural Diversity 

All of which can be used in every unique individuals everyday routine. This policy statement provides an essence of our ever developing programme. In particular we encourage creative thinking across all subject areas.

We adhere to the following principles:

* All students should be encouraged to Be Expressive, Be Empowered, Be Educated and Be A Unique Individual.
* All students regardless of gender, ability, cultural and/ or ethnic origin, and similar have the right to experience the ARTS in as a broad a context as possible.
* Every student should be taught to be creative and appreciative of of the ARTS in the widest sense of the word, and that this appreciation allows our students to develop a greater and more sophisticated understanding of the world around them.
* Access to the ARTS allows students to extend their exploration of the spiritual, cultural, moral and ethical aspects of the world in which they live and that it is our job to ensure they do this at every opportunity.
* The ARTS encourages students to challenge prejudicial views, ignorance and intolerance.
* We acknowledge that students learn most effectively through a variety of media, including aural, visual and written therefore the ARTS provides invaluable learning tools that enhance a students understanding.
* The ARTS are best taught through a combination of practical processes and intellectual investigation.
* Artistic subjects allow students to develop their abilities and opportunities for self expression, original thought, imagination and inventiveness.
* The ARTS encourage skills of empathy, negotiation, co-operation and team work.
* The ARTS allow students to make full use of their critical and evaluative skills in order to improve their work.
* That it is our responsibility to ensure that students have the skills to sustain and develop both established and emerging art forms and to perceive the practice of the ARTS as a lifelong pursuit.
* We feel that through their learning experiences students improve their chances of gaining meaningful work and leisure activities.
* We ensure every student in our school has the chance to shine and achieve wherever their talents lay, thus allowing our students to grow daily in self esteem and confidence.
* That it is our job to widen the experience of the ARTS an an aesthetic, social, practical and enjoyable aspect of life.

Updates or amendments to this Arts Policy

We reserve the right to periodically amend or revise the Arts Policy; material changes will be effective immediately upon the display of the revised Arts policy. The last revision will be reflected in the "Last modified" section. Your continued use of the Platform, following the notification of such amendments on our website, constitutes your acknowledgment and consent of such amendments to the Arts Policy and your agreement to be bound by the terms of such amendments.
